FRESNO FALCONS SWEEP SHOCK IN HOME OPENING WEEKEND -- Weekend Recap (10/12)

Falcons Launch New Era with Opening-Weekend Sweep of Oceanside

FRESNO, Calif. — The Fresno Falcons opened their inaugural Federal Prospects Hockey League season with consecutive victories over the Oceanside Shock, winning 7–2 at Selland Arena on Friday, October 9, and 5–2 at Frontwave Arena on Saturday, October 10.

Friday’s homecoming delivered an emphatic welcome back after 17 years away. Austyn Roudebush stopped all 21 shots he faced in the opening period, giving Fresno the opportunity to take control with five goals in the second.

Khristian Acosta scored the first goal of the Falcons’ new era just 58 seconds into the middle frame and added another later in the period. Aaron Huffnagle and Noah Finstrom also scored before Houston Wilson supplied a shorthanded tally.

Wilson struck shorthanded again in the third, finishing with two goals and two assists. Austin Albrecht added a power-play goal, while Roudebush completed a 51-save performance on 53 shots. Fresno’s penalty kill successfully defended 11 of 12 Oceanside opportunities.

Saturday required a comeback. After falling behind 1–0, Fresno answered with second-period power-play goals from Albrecht and Wilson. Wynston Iserhoff then extended the lead to 3–1.

Oceanside pulled within one early in the third, but Justin Daly provided insurance with less than three minutes remaining. Iserhoff added an empty-net goal to complete his two-goal night and secure the sweep.

Dysen Skinner stopped 22 of 24 shots, while Fresno outshot Oceanside 45–24. The Falcons finished the weekend 2–0–0, outscoring the Shock 12–4.

The opening weekend also delivered a milestone off the ice: Fresno’s published report recorded 7,977 tickets sold for Friday’s home opener, establishing a new FPHL attendance benchmark. Between the response at Selland Arena and two victories to begin the season, the Falcons gave the Central Valley plenty to celebrate.
