FRESNO FALCONS ACQUIRE DEFENSEMAN MIKE WINN
FRESNO, Calif. — The Fresno Falcons have acquired veteran defenseman Mike Winn in exchange for financial considerations, adding another experienced presence to the club’s blue line ahead of the 2026-27 season.
The 6-foot-3 defenseman comes to Fresno with five seasons of Federal Prospects Hockey League experience and has appeared in 128 career FPHL regular-season games, recording five goals and 33 assists for 38 points.
A native of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Winn spent the 2025-26 season with the Columbus River Dragons. He appeared in 42 regular-season games, recording one goal and nine assists while finishing with a plus-four rating. Winn also played in nine postseason games for Columbus, adding a goal and an assist.
Prior to joining Columbus, Winn spent three seasons with the Motor City Rockers. His strongest offensive season came in 2023-24 when he produced four goals and 17 assists for 21 points in 43 games while posting a plus-10 rating.
Winn will also arrive in Fresno with plenty of familiarity on the Falcons' blue line. He previously played alongside Josh Colten in Motor City before the two reunited last season in Columbus. Winn and Colten were used together during their time with the Rockers, giving Fresno a pair of veteran defensemen who already understand how to play alongside one another.
Before turning professional, Winn developed through several levels of junior hockey. He played with the Soo Eagles and Soo Thunderbirds of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League, while also seeing time with the Prince George Spruce Kings of the BCHL. Winn later played collegiately at Northland College before beginning his professional career with the Port Huron Prowlers during the 2021-22 season.
The addition of Winn continues Fresno's push to add experienced players to its roster entering training camp. His size, skating ability and familiarity with the FPHL give the Falcons another proven option on the back end as the organization continues building toward its inaugural season.
The Fresno Falcons open their inaugural season on Friday, October 9, at Selland Arena against the Oceanside Shock.
