Falcons Split Weekend Series with Mid-South as Selland Arena Welcomes 8,868 Fans
FRESNO, Calif. — A shutout victory, an aggressive offensive attack and a celebration of Fresno hockey history highlighted the Falcons’ weekend at Selland Arena. Fresno defeated the Mid-South Monarchs 5–0 on Friday, October 16, before falling 6–3 in Saturday’s rematch, drawing a combined 8,868 fans.
Friday’s Pink at the Rink celebration featured Austyn Roudebush’s shutout and a decisive four-goal second period. Aaron Huffnagle opened the scoring, Trey Deloury and Austin Albrecht added power-play goals, and Hugo Koch extended the advantage before intermission. Fresno’s report credited Houston Wilson with a third-period shorthanded goal and Huffnagle with three points. The Falcons also killed all six Mid-South power plays before a crowd of 4,233.
Saturday brought 4,635 fans to Selland Arena for Kris Porter’s jersey retirement. Fresno fired 59 shots but could not overcome Mid-South goaltender Wyatt Friedlander, who finished with 56 saves.
Trailing 2–0 after two periods, the Falcons scored three times in the third, but Mid-South answered with timely offense, including a shorthanded goal. Albrecht converted on the power play late in regulation, and Fresno added another goal with an extra attacker before the Monarchs sealed the result with an empty-net tally. Dysen Skinner stopped 19 of 24 shots faced.
The Falcons now turn toward their next home matchup against the Stockton Thunder on Saturday, October 24, at Selland Arena. The team’s schedule announcement confirms the opponent and date; current ticket listings show a 6:05 p.m. Pacific puck drop.
