FALCONS NAME STANLEY CUP-WINNING EQUIPMENT VETERAN BOB DALESSIO HEAD EQUIPMENT MANAGER

FRESNO, Calif. — The Fresno Falcons have added championship experience to their hockey operations staff, naming veteran equipment professional Bob Dalessio the organization’s Head Equipment Manager.

Dalessio brings more than four decades of experience across professional, collegiate and junior hockey to Fresno, having worked with more than 25 organizations throughout his career. His résumé reaches all the way to the National Hockey League and includes stops with both the Boston Bruins and San Jose Sharks, along with extensive experience in the American Hockey League, NCAA Division I hockey and the Federal Prospects Hockey League.

Most notably, Dalessio was part of the Boston Bruins organization during its 2011 Stanley Cup championship season.

Dalessio served as an equipment manager with the Providence Bruins, Boston’s American Hockey League affiliate, during the 2010-11 season before working with Boston during its postseason run. Dalessio is listed among the Bruins’ equipment staff from that championship season and earned a Stanley Cup championship ring for his work during the playoffs.

Boston went on to defeat the Vancouver Canucks in seven games in the 2011 Stanley Cup Final, bringing the Stanley Cup back to Boston for the first time since 1972.

For Fresno, adding somebody who has worked inside a championship NHL environment brings another level of professional experience to the organization as the Falcons continue preparations for the 2026-27 season.

Equipment managers are responsible for considerably more than what fans see from the stands. The position is one of the most demanding behind-the-scenes roles in professional hockey, overseeing everything from skate sharpening and equipment repairs to uniforms, protective equipment, locker-room preparation, inventory, travel logistics and the countless adjustments players require throughout a season.

Dalessio has spent decades handling those responsibilities at virtually every level of the game.

In addition to his time with Boston and San Jose at the NHL level, Dalessio served as Head Equipment Manager with the Providence Bruins and has worked in NCAA Division I hockey with the College of the Holy Cross, supporting both its men’s and women’s hockey programs.

His career has also taken him throughout minor professional and junior hockey. Dalessio previously served as Head Equipment Manager for the Alexandria Warthogs during the 1999-2000 season and, more recently, brought his experience to the FPHL as Head Equipment Manager of the Danbury Hat Tricks.

While in Danbury, Dalessio became known not only for his attention to detail but for his willingness to teach the next generation of equipment professionals. His work went beyond maintaining the locker room, as he helped develop younger members of the equipment staff and passed along lessons accumulated over decades in the industry

Now, that experience is headed to Fresno.

The hiring provides Falcons players with a veteran presence who understands the demands of a professional hockey season and the importance of maintaining an NHL-caliber standard behind the scenes.

Whether it is preparing a locker room hours before players arrive, sharpening skates, making an emergency repair between periods or ensuring every piece of equipment is exactly where it needs to be before the team takes the ice, Dalessio has built his career around the details that allow players to concentrate on one thing: playing hockey.

His experience in championship environments also adds another resource inside the Falcons locker room. Dalessio has seen firsthand the preparation, discipline and consistency required over the course of a long season, including what it takes behind the scenes during a Stanley Cup playoff run.

Away from hockey, Dalessio is also a United States Army Ranger veteran. He earned an Associate’s Degree in Business Management from Boston College in 1984 before building a career in hockey that has now spanned more than four decades.

The addition of Dalessio continues Fresno’s effort to build an experienced hockey operations staff around its players as professional hockey returns to Selland Arena.

From the NHL and AHL to college and minor professional hockey — and from a Stanley Cup championship run in Boston to his newest chapter in the Central Valley — Dalessio brings one of the most extensive equipment management backgrounds in the FPHL to Fresno.

He will oversee the Falcons’ equipment operations as Head Equipment Manager, working closely with the coaching staff and players throughout the 2026-27 season.
