FALCONS ADD VETERAN DEFENSEMAN NICK MAGILL-DIAZ

FRESNO, Calif. — The Fresno Falcons have acquired veteran defenseman Nick Magill-Diaz as part of a three-team trade involving Fresno, Oceanside and the Twin City Thunderbirds.

Following the trade, the Falcons have signed Magill-Diaz for the 2026-27 season, adding another experienced and proven presence to Fresno's blue line.

The 29-year-old Clawson, Michigan native spent the 2025-26 season with the Pee Dee IceCats, appearing in 52 regular-season games and recording five goals and 12 assists for 17 points while adding 65 penalty minutes. Magill-Diaz also helped Pee Dee advance to the FPHL Finals.

Magill-Diaz brings significant leadership experience to Fresno after serving as captain with Pee Dee. His arrival also reunites him with Gary Graham, who coached Magill-Diaz during the IceCats' run to the championship series and now assists the Falcons' coaching staff in a mentoring and development role.

Before joining Pee Dee, Magill-Diaz established himself as a productive two-way defenseman during two seasons with the Motor City Rockers. He recorded nine goals and 15 assists for 24 points in just 30 games during the 2023-24 season before following that with four goals and 23 assists for 27 points across 47 games in 2024-25.

The right-shot defenseman has also competed at the SPHL level with Quad City, Birmingham, Pensacola and Macon. Prior to turning professional, Magill-Diaz played NCAA Division III hockey at Curry College.

His junior career was highlighted by a standout season with the Philadelphia Little Flyers, where Magill-Diaz earned EHL Defenseman of the Year and First All-Star Team honors.

With professional experience, offensive ability from the blue line, physicality and proven leadership, Magill-Diaz gives Fresno another veteran presence on defense as the Falcons continue building their roster for their inaugural season at Selland Arena.
